Available Now

Overview

The International Surfing Association (ISA) have a process to recognize your prior coaching experience efficiently and transfer this to ISA awards. The price is usually £250 per transfer, although it can be more if the process is long and time-consuming. We also offer a SUP award bulk transfer discount to Water Skills Academy (WSA) coaches and instructors.

Here are the links to several documents attached that explain the process.

ISA RPL Policy and Procedure.

RPL Application Form_Sep2022

CIP Code of Ethics_Sep2022

A summary of the overall RPL protocol is below:

  1. Read the RPL policy
  2. Fill in the application form, sign the code of ethics and collate evidence of RPL. For the monitoring and auditing process, I will need signed copies of the originals (scanned and posted or e-mailed is fine).
  3. So we can administer the process quickly and effectively, register an online profile on the ISA education platform: The Source
  4. When you have registered on the source and sent your application to us.  we will finalise the cost of the transfer fee. We can take a variety of payment types, contact me for further details.
  5. I’ll review the documents for transferability, and let you know if they are acceptable or if more evidence is required.
  6. Once your RPL is accepted and suitable I’ll notify you and the ISA, passing on your application for administration and completion.
  7. The ISA will send the Certificate to you ASAP and update the online Coaching & Instructing Register.

Your feedback on this transfer process is vital to us. As you complete your part of the transfer, please make notes and/or ask as many questions about the process as you need (phone or e-mail). We constantly see if this process could be improved.

Lastly, if you know anyone else who wants to transfer or gain an ISA coaching qualification, please feel free to pass this info on to them:-)

What is RPL?

RPL is a process that acknowledges skills acquired through formal and informal learning and work experience. It assesses evidence of your competency, using a comparison with previous learning, to determine if you meet the required standards.
